Saxman Totem Park was begun in the late 1930's as a Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) project. It is the finest display of totem poles (28 in all) in Southeast Alaska. Saxman village was settled by Tlingit people from the villages of Tongass and Cape Fox at the southern tip of Alaska. Note the "Frog Wall" in the foreground and the "Beaver Clan House" in the background.
